Gonna Getcha!

I got #269, Dustox, for /r/pokemon draws Pokemon over on reddit. I had this basic composition figured out and then went on to try out a million other poses and art styles before circling back to this. I learned a lot of new tricks in Photoshop in the process but I still can't quite get the lines smooth enough. Normally Dustoxen have black eyes, but I was going for the nocturnal animal eye glint thing, which is a little wird since it also seems to be backlit in this image. Lighting! What is it?
